Petra Reeves is an Austin based artist / educator. Originally born in the city of Arad, Romania. Her family immigrated over to the US when she was just over a year old. She has been teaching photography at college level for over 11 years. Instructor Reeves studied at Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester New York, where she received her MFA in fine art photography.
When she’s not teaching, Petra spends most of her time with her young daughter catching bugs and taking care of their chickens. Playing video games, and nursing plant babies in her greenhouse.
The work I make is about using images to find a visual language to share the complex emotional trauma surrounding my personal experiences as a woman, and a mother.
